Step Two Completed December 8, 2006

I had started blogging about my goal to get my degree in computer programming over here. However, I’ve decided to keep all of my personal bloggings on one blog and to keep the focus of that blog to talking about computer and console gaming and the industry in general.
I completed step two of the process which was to take an aptitude test to see what class level I tested into. I did really well. I tested directly into college level English and Math although I barely missed testing into Algebra directly by two points and must take Pre-Algebra. I’m not sad about that. I love math but because I haven’t used it as much as I have my writing skills, I’ve become weak in it so I’m glad I’ll be getting a review in it.
The counselor I spoke to told me that because I got such a high score in English that I could probably take what is called a CLEP test and bypass the first level English course (basically 101) and go directly into the second level (102). CLEP stands for College Level Examination Program and is th equivalent to challenging a course. The test costs $85 total as opposed to $300 tuition and is about one hour long as opposed to 3 months class time. I kinda wanted to take an English refresher course but seeing as my skills are much stronger than even I thought I will probably take the test and bypass English 101. I figure the intenet has so many resources, I’m sure I can find one that will provide me to a refresher in basic grammar, punctuation and style.
So this semester, I think I will either start with Pre-Algebra or the required Intro to Computers course. It really is a coin toss between the two. Maybe I’ll do that. Heads or tails?
