The Cold from Hell December 13, 2006

Somewhere I picked up a chest cold that is unlike any other chest cold I’ve ever had. First off everytime I cough (which is often) I sound like I’m barking. A few times even I looked around the room, hoping some imaginary dog would appear out of nowhere that I could hold up and say “See! See! It’s not me! It’s the dog! The dooooggggg!”
The most annoying thing is that I can only sleep on my left side. I can’t sleep on my back or my right. If I do, the walls start to shake with sound of the most annoying wheezing. Coupled with my barking cough, I’m quite the one woman band.
To add insult to injury, my wireless card died on me and I could not get on the internet. It plugs into my usb port and for some reason the back of my computer gets really hot. I’ve only had it for a year so I wonder if the heat just melted the circuitry until finally Sunday it just blipped its last breath of internet access before going to that computer store in the sky.
So for two days I’ve been without service and really felt like I was missing an arm. I suppose this was the universes way of telling me that first I’m working too hard (hince the cold) and second I’m addicted to the internet a point duly noted and taken. The good part is that I finally got around to actually doing some writing in between barks. Yay me!
I inherited my Mother’s family cough where I sound like a seal.
Nice.
Other people inherit castles!
